Part 6.1: Analysis – Estimate Baseline

Baseline estimation is a major component to providing accurate integration for peak areas. Baseline estimation can be done from the Summary Tab by right-clicking the sample in the Sample Window or directly within the chromatogram window.
Note: To estimate ALL ions in a GCMS sample, estimate the baseline by right-clicking the sample in the Sample Window of the Summary Tab.

Parameters

  • Search Window Width: Use a wider search window to get smoother baseline if peak shoulders are present.
  • Optimize Baseline: Activates the advanced optimization parameters.
  • Slope Smoothing Factor: Higher values generates smoother baseline.
  • Slope Tolerance: Increase slope tolerance to allow local convex shapes in the baseline.
  • Minimum Abundance: Set the minimum abundance of the chromatogram to ignore the intervals with no detector signals.
